...Let's Talk Skincare with Anne - Tip #2

Let’s Talk Skincare, with Anne

Hello all!  Well, here we are right in the thick of the holiday season. Wouldn’t you just know it that the holiday gatherings, shopping, and the busy lives we keep, knocks us out of our routine.

As a result of all the mayhem, I have come to you again to give you Tip #2 in making certain that your skin is healthy and glowing.

We’ve covered the Cleanse as part of our routine as Tip #1. Now, we are going to chat about TONER.

Ladies, please tone your face. You don’t have to use an astringent. Get yourself some good Rosewater, misting Micellar water or any other product that is not going to dry you out so that you look like a PRUNE!

Benefits of Toning

I have done extensive research into the caring of one’s skin - you know, you only get one, right?

In reality, toning should be considered an important part of the cleansing process. A good toner will remove any remaining bits of oil, dirt and debris left behind by the cleanser. More importantly, toner will help soothe, nourish and hydrate the skin while restoring its delicate pH balance.

What’s standing between you and clear skin?

It could be the absence of just one product in your beauty routine as cited by one leading dermatologist and the article stated that the secret weapon to health skin is face toner.

The article also states not to pile on extra makeup to mask acne and oil problems. Instead, use a gentle, soothing toner to unclog pores by removing oil and traces of dirt and grime.

WHAT DOES TONER DO?

“Toners are most helpful and necessary for people with oily or acne-prone skin, or or people who want extra cleansing after wearing makeup or other heavy skin products such as sunscreen,” said the dermatologist noted in the article above.

But that’s not all of it - Toners can...

Shrink Pores

Applying a small amount of toner to a soft cotton ball or pad and gently blotting and wiping your face with it will remove oil and give the appearance of smaller pores.

Restores your skin’s pH balance

Our skin is naturally acidic, typically right below the middle of the scale with a pH balance between 5 and 6. But that balance can get out of whack after cleansing due to the type of cleanser or soap that one uses. When this happens, your skin works overtime to return it to its normal levels (and that may result in oil), but using a toner can help restore this balance.

Adds as layer of protection

Toners can help close pores and tighten gaps after cleansing, reducing the ability of impurities to penetrate into the skin. It can even protect and remove chlorine and minerals present in tap water.

Acts like a moisturizer

Some toners are humectants, which means they help to bind moisture to the skin.
Refreshes skin

Toner can also be used instead of washing your skin when it’s oily or dirty. It will leave your skin revitalized even when you’re on the go.

You may prefer to buy very expensive toners and/or rosewater. However, the cost benefit is not always consistent.

In order to achieve the desired result of healthy, glowing skin, the aim is to Cleans, Tone, Moisturize and SPF (day routine) on a CONSISTENT BASIS!
